We broke history! The LDCC group completed our very first December century! Who would have thought that the weather would allow us to ride 100 miles at the end of December to start the series? It was strange to be on a 100 mile ride and seeing Christmas decorations. It was also strange to see clean roads, free of salt, and no leftover snow on the first ride of the series.

I want to thank all who came out and supported the group, keeping us hopeful that spring was just around the corner. Your support kept made us feel confident that a December century was possible. Apologies if I left anyone out of the kudos.

Please let me know if there are any errors on the rider list, etc.  By the way, the ride schedule and riders log have both been updated.

(Friday)

We had 17 riders (including 5 new riders). Bryan Reyes came from as far as Fremont and Kurt Teske who was visiting from N.Y., joined us. Everyone seemed really happy to be on the roads once again. Since I hadn’t been on a bike (outside) in 6 months, I was very happy to be out there again. However, my legs weren’t too happy. I want to personally thank Mark Thomas for pacing myself and others, to help us through the 100 miles. He was like a Sherpa and on one long (13 miles) stretch of road, it felt like we were climbing Everest. Well, maybe not Everest, but certainly the Adirondacks.

Kudos to Jeff Chapman who completed his personal best of 100 miles on his very first group ride.

    Hey Eric,

I dont remember seeing Jeff Kompa, unless he was way out front. I went to Oberlin and I never saw him. Mark S.
