31st (Last) Long Distance Ride Report

SAM_0109

We had 8 riders to start with Dan and Tina riding to the start. The weather was very nice and we were a little excited to have a relatively good turnout (for this late in the season), especially since this was the last ride of the series.  I was also a little excited about riding a new route.  We’ve covered the territory before but this was in the reverse direction, which can sometimes make it seem like an entirely different route.  It was a little windy and warm but we had a good day.

Just getting warmed up

Getting crop dusted by a mean pickup truck. I think we enjoyed it. Well, having to move over into deep gravel wasn’t that much fun.

Waiting for a train to pass. We would have to wait for another train about 1 mile further down the road.

At the second set of tracks we saw two riders separated by the train.  One of the riders got impatient and went under the train.  Just in time, according to the report.  When we heard what had happened we all shook our heads in disbelief.

Our route having been sabotaged by city planners. At least they placed a porta potty on site to make up for our inconvenience.

Overall, it was a very nice day!

By the way, the rider’s log has been updated.  I’m still in the process of working on the missing ride reports and will be submitting a summary report soon.   Thanks All, for a great season/series.  It was one of the most productive in spite of missing out on riding in February.

See you on the road.
