It was 19 degrees at the start but because the forecast predicted that the temperature was going to rise quickly to 35 degrees, we felt like the ride was doable.   We discussed turning around immediately if it looked like we would be in danger of getting frost-bitten of if the roads were full of ice patches.

For me, the first few miles were ok. The legs were cold and sluggish because of at first.  Then came the cold fingers that stayed numb for the next ½ hour.  Luckily, the sun was out and by the time we got to our first stop the temperature was at a more comfortable temperature of 26 degrees.  On the way out the winds were calm and out of the SSW.  When we turned around the winds picked up and pushed us back home at comfortable 23-28 mph.  That was a lot of fun.
